Built of bricks and beams in the downstairs and wholly of wood upstairs, this building will host laundry, housekeeping, our main store and the solar tech room. Upstairs are four simple sleeping rooms with a veranda.
In order to limit our own peak energy demands (mainly caused by water pressure pumps, boilers or electric cooking stoves), we decided to go down the road of building an old-fashioned water tower. As our premises are spacious and water has to maintain pressure for several hundred meters its minimum height was to be 15 meters, just like any older Coconut tree. The tower now stands hidden from view behind the service building.
