Village Integration

Village Integration

Zikhone village is far off the beaten track and its inhabitants have not been exposed to tourism so far. As we are part of the village and willing to contribute to its welfare and development what we can, we recently held a first project information meeting. We combined this occasion with a donation ceremony to the old monastery and its monks. Questions were asked and blessings were given – hopefully for a bright and auspicious future hand-in-hand with the community.

In Myanmar, every special occasion starts with cooking! Here are the Zikhone volunteer cooking group ladies in action for us, whilst the men steam rice and make tea.

People arrive, have a tea in front of the monastery or sit with the monks on the veranda.

The monk teaches a Buddhist lecture and gives us time to share our information with the villagers and attend to their questions.

The monks then are served first, before the villagers enjoy a good lunch. What an important day this was for us. Thank you Zikhone villagers!
